They possess extensive aviation expertise that permits them to extract value from every stage of an aircraft's lifecycle across a broad range of aircraft and engine types. They also provide aircraft management services and perform aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services and aircraft disassemblies.  Currently total assets are in the region of $9.3 Billion, with 335 aircraft and 95 engines.

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:

Responsibility as part of a team for the structuring, negotiating, executing and closing of aircraft finance and trading transactions with minimum risk and maximum efficiency.  Identification and management of legal risks.  Drafting of contracts and condition precedent documents.   Coordination with external counterparties including banks and law firms and the relevant AerCap departments.    Support VP Corporate Legal on debt and equity finance, M&A, trading, capital markets, joint ventures and securitisation transactions.  Responsibility for organising and filing executed legal documentation.   

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Work as part of a team to ensure that transactions are closed on time and on budget;

To ensure the provision of effective and cost-efficient legal advice on all aspects of aircraft finance and trading transactions;

To assist commercial colleagues in structuring and negotiating aircraft finance and trading transactions so that the business of AerCap is conducted with minimum risk and maximum efficiency;

To actively contribute to the reduction of legal exposure and risks that AerCap might be exposed to by analysing the risks involved in any transaction and briefing commercial colleagues in a timely manner to enable them to make well-informed decisions;

To contribute to ensuring fast, accurate, high quality handling of the legal aspects of aircraft finance and trading transactions;

To draft, undertake legal analysis, negotiate, review and, where necessary, ensure the enforcement of, the contractual commitments of AerCap, in respect of aircraft finance and trading transactions;

To supervise and assist regional lawyers in aspects of aircraft finance and trading transactions requiring regional legal involvement;

To engage external counsel where appropriate and control their costs;

To respond promptly and accurately to requests from other parts of the company in relation to aircraft finance and trading transactions;

To execute other aircraft finance and trading transactions on request of the VP Corporate Legal;

To develop awareness and knowledge of legal issues among commercial colleagues and contribute to consistency of approach on key documentary provisions;

To maintain and update standard documentation for which Corporate Legal has responsibility;

To contribute to know how and training including contributions to the legal knowledge base;

To collect and prepare transaction bibles and original documents following closing of transactions;

Foreign travel will be an essential part of the position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Strong academics

Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction

4 – 7 years PQE either in a law firm or in house

Solid experience and ability on asset finance transactions, preferably aviation related
