MC has been active in aircraft leasing business on a global basis and MCAPE was established in Ireland in August 2007 as a core functional entity for the growth of this business in the long term.
MC Aviation Partners Americas Inc. (“MCAPA”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of MCAP in Irvine California, U.S.A. which has the management contract with MCAPE and other MCAP subsidiaries including sales/marketing and technical matters for the aircraft owned or managed by MCAPE, other MCAP affiliates companies and third party aircraft owners.
Under ownership MCAP currently have approx 70 commercial aircraft. A large percentage of these are based in Europe.
The MCAP Strategy
The mid to long term objective is to reach an asset value of more than $5billion (currently $2.4 billion). This will be achieved through portfolio acquisition, sale and lease back and potential orders from the OEM. Transactions have been financed fully through the parent MC.
The company’s fleet consists mainly of new gen narrow body aircraft and they intend to mainly continue in this space, with a potential to expand into wide body aircraft as well.
About the Position
The technical director position is a title that is given to the position through the MCAP’s structure. It would be on a level similar with a VP Technical a title widely used by many aircraft leasing companies.
The position will report to the Managing Director in Dublin on a day to day basis and also to VP / Head of Technical in California. It will work alongside the other director of technical in the Dublin office.
The position will cover all aircraft in Europe, Africa and Middle East.
Responsibilities
- Full responsibility of all technical aspects of aircraft deliveries, acceptance, returns and ongoing management of asset during lease life.
- Negotiate key technical and financial aspects of lease and redelivery.
- Assess inherent values of aircraft
- Main point of contact with OEM and suppliers, negotiate terms with suppliers
- Inspect aircraft deliveries of new and used aircraft
- Full responsibility & signatory for the aircraft delivery and acceptance
- Negotiation of any technical and financial terms reflecting the technical condition of aircraft
- Negotiation of LOI and final contracts from technical perspective
- Calculate and negotiate maintenance reserves, vet and approve maintenance claims
- Ongoing management of asset during the lease term.
- Be part of and contribute to the deal team for transactions
Experience & Skills
This person will have gained 2+ years in a technical position within an aircraft leasing company. They will ideally have worked as a contractor to the aircraft leasing industry and will have a number of years experience in a technical role within an airline, MRO or OEM prior.
The role will require
- A strong knowledge of FAA and EASA rulings
- The ability to negotiate LOI’s and lease contracts from a technical perspective
- A previous track record in project managing aircraft deliveries / redeliveries.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to use excel and other financial tools.
The Package
This is a highly important role to the overall business and as such the package will be negotiated directly with the selected individual. The package will comprise salary, bonus and benefits commensurate with the candidate’s abilities and experience.
